Porcelain from the Qing dynasty (Guangxu period)
As we saw before, Jingdezhen city in the province of Jiangxi is known for its ceramics. This cup was produced in the famous “porcelain capital” and dates from the Guangxu reign (1875-1908) in the Qing dynasty.
This period saw a surge of famille rose porcelain, or fencai in Chinese, which features gentle hues of colors. The stem of this beautiful lotus-shaped fencai cup was smartly designed as a straw.
