Kunqu Opera: “The Nanke Dream” online

Are you a fan of Kunqu Opera? Then we have a treat for you! To continue the online celebration of the Center’s fifth anniversary and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the China Cultural Center in Brussels and the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe are sharing a scene from the famous play “The Nanke Dream”.

The Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe has performed at the Center several times over the past years. A few months ago, we posted a clip of their performance of a scene from “The Peony Pavilion”.

Now, another performance by the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe is going online: an excerpt from “The Nanke Dream”, also written by the Ming dynasty playwright TANG Xianzu. The opera is about a man dreaming he becomes the husband of a princess of the ant kingdom. Curious? Follow the second scene of the play below!
