China’s Battle Against Covid-19

As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, we look at the past to learn lessons. This video series focuses on China’s fight against COVID-19 and the people who have participated in it. Drawing on these personal experiences, the five episodes in this series offer a very human perspective on the pandemic.

The first episode, “The New Enemy of Mankind”, includes interviews with several health professionals from all over the world. They discuss the origin of the novel coronavirus, named SARS-CoV-2, the effects of China’s prevention and handling of the epidemic, and more.

We continue the video series with the second episode: “Action Speaks Louder Than Words”. As the outbreak rapidly spreads from Wuhan, it becomes a major public health emergency that puts China’s governance system to the test. Three scholars are interviewed about the Chinese disease control system and the performance of China’s governance system handling the crisis.

In the third episode, “This Is Wuhan”, the video series zooms in on the Wuhan lockdown. How does it affect citizens? These interviews show a glimpse into the personal experience of Wuhan residents. Belgian pianist Jean-François MALJEAN brings some musical encouragement with his song “Chime of the Dawn Bells”, specially composed for the people of Wuhan.

In the fourth episode, interviewees from different fields call for unity in the fight against COVID-19. Appropriately, this episode is titled “United We Stand”.

The fifth and final episode, “After the Epidemic Outbreak”, looks ahead. What will the future bring? How will the global economy shape itself after the pandemic?
