Bamboo wrist-rest

This is a bamboo wrist-rest carved by JIN Xiya in intaglio with JIN Cheng’s painting of reed and bird. It is a great piece of collaborative art, combining the work of two brilliant artists.

Jin Cheng (1878-1926) was a masterful painter and sculptor from Zhejiang province. He was skilled in traditional bird-and-flower paintings and the depiction of natural scenery. His younger brother, Jin Xiya (1890-1979), was an expert in painting and calligraphy, also excelling at sculpting with bamboo.
