Winter Olympics are creeping closer
With less than a year until the opening ceremony, the 2022 Winter Olympics are approaching! Before we know it, we will be watching the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in the three host cities, Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou.
Also the location of the 2008 Summer Olympics, Beijing is set to become the first “double Olympic city”. China is entering the final stage of preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, hoping to welcome guests from all over the world. The goal is to host an excellent edition of the Winter Games that can unite and inspire people, creating a rich legacy in areas like sports, culture, ecology.
Opening on February 4, 2022, the Olympic Winter Games focus on 7 sports, with 15 disciplines: biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton, curling, ice hockey, luge, figure skating, short-track speed skating, speed skating, alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping and snowboarding. In total, the Winter Olympics will comprise 109 events.
A month later, on March 4, 2022, the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games will take place. The Winter Paralympics will feature 78 events in 6 sports: alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey, snowboarding and wheelchair curling.
