Shanghai Film Week

Despite its name, the “Shanghai Film Week” is a month-long project that combines various art forms, with film as the common thread that ties all the subjects together.

October 1 is National Day in China. This year, it marks the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The Center has some celebrations in store for this milestone.

In collaboration with the Shanghai Film Museum, a special exhibition is coming to the China Cultural Center in Brussels from September 27 until October 31. The “Shanghai Film Week” offers a profound cultural exchange through a variety of different art forms. It also celebrates the accomplishments of the Shanghai Film Studio, which was established in the same year the People’s Republic of China was founded.

There will be a comics exhibition, centering on San Mao, one of China’s most popular comic characters. San Mao was so well-loved that the comics were adapted into movies. Two of these film adaptations are being screened at the Center in October. To complement these components, a film poster exhibition will also be on display, highlighting an important part of film culture.
