Synopsis

Wushu is one of China national art treasures and is now very popular in different parts of the world. It is considered as the symbol of perseverance and virtue. Wushu finds its origins in the observation of animals’ fighting styles which in time were blended with some aspects of Chinese culture. Over the years it continually changed and evolved by drawing on China’s rich and diversified ethnic culture and wisdom. By the way, did you know that the lion dance, popular entertainment during Chinese New Year, is also inspired from wushu?

The second documentary will bring you to the Shaolin temple. The famous Shaolin Kungfu is deeply rooted in Buddhism: originally the aim was to train the body, learn self-defense and master righteousness through combat. Shaolin Kungfu includes boxing, weapons, Taiqi, Qigong, and all together 700 series of activities. The Shaolin monks are widely famous, and just like many oversea disciples who visit their temple to pay their respect to the birthplace of Shaolin Kungfu, they often travel the world to demonstrate their martial art skills.
