With “The Crossing”, famous Chinese Director John Woo delivers a two-part epic drama based on the true story of the tragic sinking in 1949 of the Taiping, a Chinese steamer bringing civil war refugees from Shanghai to Taiwan. The incident led to the deaths of over 1,500 passengers and crew. The Crossing part 2 will be screened on the 23rd of October.

Synopsis
In the summer of 1945, after suffering heavy casualties, the General Lei Yifang (Huang Xiaoming) and his men earn a decisive victory against the Japanese. Among the few survivors are signaller Tong Daqing (Tong Dawei) and Taiwanese doctor Yan Zenkun (Kaneshiro Takeshi), who was conscripted into the Japanese army. After the surrender of the Japanese Empire, the three go their separate ways each experiencing a particular love story. The three couples lead disparate lives, but will be brought together by the disaster of the Taiping (The Crossing part 2)
