Online qipao exhibition
The China Cultural Center in Brussels and the Shanghai University Museum are collaborating to share an online exhibition on qipao, also known as cheongsam. On display are various qipao from the Rong family’s collection, curated by Professor Li Mingbin.
These Shanghai-style variations from the 1930s to the 21st century are charming, modern and integrate both Chinese and Western elements. Next to the different textures, patterns and designs, we also pay special attention to the matching jackets the qipao are paired with. The pieces all show an incredible eye for detail.
